The facilities at Umami are designed to seamlessly blend into the mountain landscape. Allowing Mother Nature to dominate and gently pull you to Her calm rhythm. All the facilities listed below are included in the hiring out of Umami Mountain Retreat.
Heart Space
Thick stone walls, high thatched roof and open circulated spaces provide a cool and refreshing space to meet and eat.
Octagon
A going 'within' space deep in the woods, featuring a central firepit. Perfect for deep inner work, circling, sound journeys and meditation.
Yoga Deck
Suspended amongst the trees, overlooking a dam with surrounding mountain views. Perfect for yoga, dance, meditation and star gazing.
Swimming Dam
Fresh water dam with spectacular 360 degree surrounding mountain views. Centrally located and easy to get to.

We have 3 hiking trails exploring various aspects of Franschhoek Mountain.
Pods
The Retreat provides secluded pods, featuring thick stone walls, high pitched thatched roofs and double glazing. Naturally cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The pods are understated and tasteful, but everything is top quality from the Egyptian cotton bedding to simple furniture. Each pod is individually situated in its own unique space in Nature. Ensuring privacy, silence and solitude. *Please note: Ablutions are nearby, the pods aren't en-suite.
